The executive of Kindle, Peter Larsen has announced the release of set top box that will allow users to have instant access to over 200,000 television series and films. The Amazon Fire TV set top box will cost $99 and its release signals Amazon’s debut into the streaming TV hardware business. This is a good move for the company, since it has been experiencing problems with its DVD business as people turn to streaming movies and other content rather than purchasing DVDs online and having them delivered by mail to their homes. This move puts the company in competition with companies such as Google and Apple that are working hard to secure huge shares of the television distribution business.

Many Benefits Of Fire TV device

The Fire TV device is a black box the size of a coaster whose processors are said to be three times faster than those in set top boxes from rival companies such as Google and ROKU. The set top box has the added benefit of being enabled to play the latest games such as Minecraft. As a result, game developers such as Ubisoft, Sega and Disney are looking forward to being part of the game contributors.

The device from Amazon is already on sale, and when connected will instantly link users to Amazon’s instant video library where there are of numerous TV series and films to choose from. The content available is ready for streaming, renting or downloading depending on one’s preference. The device will also allow hosting of material from media players such as Hulu, Netflix, YouTube and Vimeo.

Uses Android Software

Fire TV uses Android software, a factor that will make it easy for developers to create products for the box. It also makes it possible to display photos through the set top box in addition to playing music and hosting games. It has a WiFi capability that is dual in nature capable of ensuring it will work towards providing fast internet connections and will also be serving HD images. The device has a remote control that is capable of acting as a microphone for use in voice activated searches that will also predict the shows that viewers want to watch by pre-loading them so that they can start instantly when selected.

According to an executive of Amazon, the design of the TV box is meant to do away with the complexity that is experienced when using other devices from rival companies usually characterized by laborious searches and buffering among other problems. We can only wait and see how the TV box will fare in the market as it attempts to compete with devices from companies such as Google and Apple.
